Involved as an Individual!
- Join Walk San Antonio, Fit City's largest initiative. Call (210) 246-9600 to find a check-in close to where you live or work.
- Exercise at least 30 minutes a day, 5 days a week. For inspiration and community support, join a free Fit City walking group. Call (210) 246-9600 to find a group closest to you.
- Get involved with a group from the Fitness and Nutrition Guide.
- Talk with your employer, school or church leaders about adopting the Fit City program.
- Incorporate physical activity and healthy food options into family events.
- Subscribe to the free Fit City Today newsletter (quarterly). Submit your postal address to fitcity@ymcasatx.org .
- Subscribe to the free Fit City Monthly Message. Submit your email address to fitcity@ymcasatx.org.
- Walk or ride your bicycle to work or school.
- Invite a member of Fit City to speak at an event you are involved with. For more information on scheduling an appearance, contact (210) 246-9600 or fitcity@ymcasatx.org .
- Keep your Body Mass Index within a healthy range.
- Make sure your waistline is under control. Women whose waistlines measure larger than 35 inches and men who measure larger than 40 inches are at risk for diabetes.
- Set up a Fit City walking/bicycling route with mile markers. Call (210) 246-9600 to find out how.
- Discourage using food as a reward - for yourself and for your family.
